The Laramie Project By Tectonic Theater ProjectWestview High School
WESTVIEW HIGH SCHOOL
Jessica Bird provided a professional work ethic and organization that our theater company was sorely lacking. Not only did she direct an amazing show, but she was a mentor for our students both during and after her time with our group.
Immersing myself in the world of The Laramie Project was one of the most gratifying theatrical experiences I have ever had. Jess was very helpful in guiding me to discover the power of vulnerability on stage as well as realizing the significance of being present with the ensemble of scene partners sharing the stage with me.
Working with Jess was an eye-opening experience. Her passion and love for theater was so clear through her direction on stage and off. The professionalism and skills she taught our company will be something I use throughout the rest of my life!
I loved working with Jess as a director because she made our cast feel like a family and brought her own creative twists to everything.
Jessica always remained calm, cool, and collected. She demonstrated leadership to me in more ways than one showing sympathy and compassion in a time of havoc and stress. She not only held us to high standards but saw us as real people with other things happening in our lives. This inspired me to use her as a leadership example in my ASB President application.
